The next morning the sun shines brightly, all seems quiet and solemn but as he leaves his quarters he quickly realizes the town is in a uproar. The old lady next door cries indignantly about a murderer!! Jay follows the surge of people to the center of attention: the town execution pole, where a man is about to be hanged. It is the old researcher, his clothes are torn and bloodsoaked. Asking around people claim he killed a family of four and was found feasting on their remains. The man desperately and with tear-filled-eyes plead his innocence as the nose tightens around his neck moments before it snaps. Silence, not even birdsong.
